Training & Development
Your training for the examinations will be provided by way of “link” study through courses at Kaplan’s premises in London. For each certificate level e-assessment you will receive between 3 and 7 days of classroom tuition focusing on technical content, question practice and exam technique.
The Professional level comprises tuition (between 3 and 9 days for each module) and revision (between 2.5 and 4 days) with the revision phase typically scheduled within the last two weeks leading up to the exam.
For the Advanced Level, 17 days of classroom tuition are followed by a 13 day revision course.
While we would like all our students to obtain first time passes we recognise that this is not always the case. We do require that you pass the first two certificate level examinations at the first attempt and the remaining papers within two attempts. If, for some reason, you do not, we will look at your individual circumstances and discuss with you the best course of action.
We will pay all the course costs and examination fees and provide you with paid study leave, for your first attempt at each examination.
Our students have access to SWAT training with its Unique Tutorial Scheme which provides additional examination practice and guidance at each stage of their studies.
In addition all students attend a comprehensive series of practical courses with SWAT which focus on both technical and personal skills to assist their career development.
The review and appraisal system
All work is appraised by a student’s immediate supervisor who will assess individual performance. You will have the opportunity to discuss your appraisal with your supervisor or manager.
A more formal review is undertaken every six months with your Counselling Partner but in reality appraisal and feedback is occurring constantly and Counselling Partners are always available to discuss concerns.
On successfully completing a training contract, students can expect to progress to a supervisor role within six months and to assistant manager within a further year. As our emphasis is on internal promotion progression to manager and eventually to partner is a possibility. In fact four of the current partners qualified with the firm.
Our student salaries are competitive and are reviewed on a six monthly basis as part of the appraisal process. We will pay all course costs, examination fees and provide paid study leave for the first attempt at each of the ACA examinations. In addition we provide four weeks annual leave.
