I was very honoured to represent Nyman Libson Paul as guest speaker at the ICAEW New Members’ Ceremony held at Chartered Accountants’ Hall on 22 November 2012. This is a very prestigious occasion where newly qualified Chartered Accountants receive their scrolls in a ‘graduation ceremony’ style event.
The attendance was approaching 300 people made up of newly qualified Chartered Accountants and their guests. I was the guest speaker, appearing alongside Institute Vice President Arthur Bailey who presented the New Members with their Scrolls. My speech was a motivational look at the way future careers are likely to need constant adaptation in a fast moving technological age. The speech was well received and it was very rewarding that so many people approached me during the reception afterwards to say how inspirational it was.
I would like to think that some of my words will help some young accountants shape successful careers. Whether or not I ever find out is another matter of course, but I was proud to represent Nyman Libson Paul and I will certainly remember the evening with fond memories for a long time to come. Dave
