Ken joined the firm in 1984 as a trainee accountant and has been a partner since January 2001.
Ken’s principal area of interest is within the entertainment industry particularly focussing on the film and television sector. He has advised and assisted a number of film production companies on creating the appropriate structure to avail of tax benefits both in the UK and overseas. He also has wide experience in the audit process and other requirements for the certification of British films and films made under recognised co-production treaties including negotiations with the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS). In recent years, he has assisted a number of film production clients including a major Hollywood studio in recovering significant amounts of VAT incurred in various EU countries.
In 2003, Ken co-authored a Business Briefing “Entertainment Industry, Film and Television Industry” which the firm was commissioned to write by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (ICAEW).
Ken also acts for a number of small to medium-sized companies in the retail sector, manufacturing, independent schools, property development and investment, restaurants and hotels, solicitors and other professional firms. He has been involved in the development and growth of these businesses over the years through acquisitions, mergers and seeking exit routes. In addition, he also acts for a number of sole traders and partnerships.
Over the years, Ken has built up an extensive range of business contacts both in the UK and overseas which has provided our internationally based clients with a comprehensive service.
Ken is also a trustee of a charity and is extremely active in both the fund-raising aspects as well as the making of grants to other charitable organisations and individuals. Outside “office-hours”, Ken still harbours an ambition to play cricket at Lords and enjoys travelling with his young family.
