Anthony Pins
Anthony has spent his entire professional career at Nyman Libson Paul and is now one of the firm’s longest serving members. He joined as a trainee in 1983, qualified in 1987 and subsequently became a partner in 1994. He now sits on the firm’s management committee.
The majority of his time is devoted to giving commercial and tax-based advice to a wide spectrum of businesses and private clients, particularly in the fields of entertainment, property and retail. As part of this role he undertakes various ad hoc assignments, including mergers and acquisitions and litigation support. He describes his philosophy as “keeping things simple – clients want us to make their lives more straightforward, not more complicated”, and he is known for his no-nonsense and common sense approach to problem solving.
Anthony advises a large number of clients in the theatre, film and television industries. He lectures on theatre finance and was commissioned by the Institute of Chartered Accountants to write a Business Briefing on the industry for reference by other practitioners. He recently stepped down after spending 7 years as a committee member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants’ Entertainment & Media Industry Group. He is now a trustee and non-executive director of Medical Aid Films Limited, a rapidly growing charity that provides basic but essential medical advice to the developing world, using modern communication technology.
Outside the office, much of Anthony’s spare time is spent acting as a chauffeur to his 3 daughters. He is an accomplished armchair sports fan, with a wholly irrational and utterly unrewarding support for AFC Bournemouth, and a purist’s attachment to cricket. The rumour that he has stayed at NLP for so long only because of the proximity to Lords is, so he claims, “pure speculation”.
